The Drinks, Sounds, and Curiosities Discovered at the GQ Philippines Launch Dinner

While the arrival of GQ Philippines was a party of its own, these two brands knew exactly how to crank it up to 11

Most man caves have a central theme. Some become workshops for niche hobbies or makeshift home theaters; others transform into the friend group’s weekly retreat—an environment that is almost anything but spiritual, let alone silent. But for the launch night of GQ Philippines, IQOS and ZYN recreated two distinct environments where the modern man could truly let loose: a classy, subterranean speakeasy and a neon-lit dance floor.

Upon entering the underground event space, guests were immediately welcomed into the brands’ conjoined dioramas, with upbeat house music from DJ Mark Thompson setting the sonic backdrop.

Those drifting toward the IQOS lounge found themselves in an overlooking penthouse facade view of the city, which also doubled as its own photo vignette for portraits and group photos. Those familiar with how the brand hosts its parties went straight for the curated cocktails based on the IQOS’ signature theme.

Named the Curious Twist and Curiosity Elixir, both drinks featured sharp blends of citrus, blue curaçao, and egg whites, with the latter adding a touch of gin for a refreshingly spiked kick. The lounge also extended towards the end of the hall, where guests could help themselves to a better tobacco experience with IQOS’ ash-free and odorless Terea flavors.

For those who were looking for a smokeless alternative to keep their lives uninterrupted at the event, visitors who found themselves at the ZYN space were seen enjoying the music and taking pics along its music studio-inspired set-up. Here, various vinyl records decorated the entire space, with guests even spotting ZYN’s flavor profiles cheekily used to label some of the records.

While the reveal of GQ Philippines’ inaugural issue took place at the other end of the event hall, guests were noticeably drawn back to the IQOS and ZYN lounge the moment formalities came to a close. Here, DJ Miaow took control of the afterparty, where guests danced with raised glasses as if they didn’t have their boxed copies wedged between their arms.

As the evening carried on to celebrate the new authority on modern masculinity, IQOS and ZYN stripped away the rigid formalities, allowing every guest to savor the moment and discover new curiosities within the magazine’s pages.
